ParaVision Operation and Application Course

November 8-12, 2010 - Billerica, MA

The course starts at 1PM, Monday (November 8, 2010) and ends at 2PM, Friday (November 12, 2010). It is designed to teach users about the most features of the software interface and will cover both low- and high-level imaging and spectroscopy techniques:

1. ParaVision® Operations:

  • Automatic adjustments (ADJ_SHIM, ADJ_SF and ADJ_REFG protocols)
  • Shimming Strategies (Fastmap/Fieldmap)
  • Setting up basic measuring methods and running acquisitions
  • Capabilities of the image display and processing for 2D and 3D data
  • Generation of parametric maps (relaxation and diffusion)
  • Utilities (data manager, macros and AUs, Linux tools)
  • Basic software structure and maintenance
  • Hardware: signal pathways and components

2. ParaVision® Applications:

  • Localized spectroscopy and basic CSI
  • EPI
  • Diffusion and DTI
  • T1 contrast imaging using MDEFT and RARE inversion
  • PVM modules (saturation, inversion, MTC, triggering, tagging)
  • Micro-imaging
  • Methods for short T2 samples
  • Flow MRI

Pre-requisite: This course presumes the knowledge of basic MRI technology. The attendees should have been using the Bruker scanner for several months.

This year we implement the following changes in organization of the class:

  • Participants will be able to select topics more freely according to their interests.
  • Sessions will be conducted concurrently in 3 facility locations: an auditorium (for lectures with workstation hands-on exercises) and 2 demo systems, Biospec 7T and micro-imaging 11.7T.
  • Number of sessions’ topics will be increased.
  • Selected sessions will be repeated on different days.

We hope that with these changes we will be able to accommodate a wider range of the participants’ interests and their level of familiarity with ParaVision.

The total number of class participants is limited to 15 (with each session limited to 6 participants).
