DOSY and Diffusion

This one day course will teach the user how to use pulsed field gradient NMR spectroscopy to measure translational diffusion. DOSY spectra will be acquired using standard high resolution hardware. The data will be analyzed using Bruker BioSpin TopSpin software. (Please note the use of special diffusion probes and high power gradient amplifiers will not be covered.)

  • Brief theory of measuring diffusion by NMR
  • Calibration of gradients
  • Parameter optimization
  • Data analysis
  • Separation of a mixture using diffusion
     

Prerequisite:

This course will assume significant knowledge of NMR and TopSpin. Attendance of Avance I Liquids or equivalent is required.
