Micro-Imaging Probes

MicroMouse and Micro AHS/RF Probes

In these variants of the Micro 2.5 system, the probe base and resonators have been modified to allow the use of high gradient strengths for in vivo investigations on small animals, e.g., mice up to 30 g.

The MicroMouse probe provides the largest space for whole body studies of mice in the Micro 2.5 gradient system. The Micro AHS/RF probe is used with smaller plug-in rf-coils, e.g., for mouse brain studies. Both types allow for easy animal positioning and the manipulation of anesthetics and sensor or triggering hardware.

Gradient System

The actively shielded gradients are the same as used with the Micro 2.5 probe.

RF Section

The MicroMouse probe contains a fixed single or double tuned resonator of 30 mm inner diameter. The single tuned resonators can be combined with x-nucleus surface coils, tuned to e.g. 31P or 13C.

The Micro AHS/RF probe is equipped with exchangeable rf-resonators up to 25 mm inner diamater or plug-in surface coils.

Special Features

The probes feature ergonomically engineered devices for fixing the position of a mouse. A pressure detecting respiratory sensor is available for respiratory gating of imaging sequences to reduce motion artifacts and enhance image quality. ECG electrodes can also be mounted to monitor heart beat and enable cardiac triggering of data acquisition.
