Bruker BioSpin Announces the Acquisition of PERCH Spectral Prediction and Molecular Modeling Business for Small Molecule Structure Verification and Elucidation
CHICAGO, Illinois -- March 9, 2009 – At Pittcon 2009, Bruker BioSpin announced today the closing of its acquisition of PERCH Solutions Ltd., in Kuopio, Finland. PERCH Solutions, founded in 2002 and based on the development of computer-assisted NMR spectral analysis headed by Prof. Reino Laatikainen at the University Kuopio, will continue to operate under its former management. PERCH’s unique expertise in spectral prediction and molecular modeling has already been successfully implemented in several NMR software products during a long-term research collaboration with Bruker BioSpin.
Going forward Bruker BioSpin and PERCH will focus on new and automated software routines for NMR-based structure verification and elucidation. This acquisition enables the full integration of PERCH’s software modules with Bruker BioSpin’s TopSpin™ and AMIX™ analysis software, delivering new opportunities to small molecule researchers.
Dr. Bernd Gewiese, Executive Vice President of Bruker BioSpin, commented: “Many of PERCH’s market segments and applications overlap with those of our NMR small molecule business, making the PERCH software solutions an excellent addition to our industry-leading TopSpin™ and AMIX™ software. This synergy is expected to be a major driver for the growth of our small molecule analysis product line.”
Dr. Mikael Peräkylä, President of PERCH Solutions, stated: “We here at PERCH are very pleased to join forces with Bruker BioSpin, and look forward to integrating our algorithms and software modules into common analytical solutions. We expect a high degree of synergy with respect to the development, marketing and sales of analytical software platforms, opening new markets not only for NMR-spectroscopy but also for combined analytical techniques.”
