ELEXSYS E540
A turn-Key EPR molecular imaging system
Biomedical research by EPR imaging is a rapidly growing area of research. Our response to this development is the introduction of a 2nd generation EPR molecular imaging system. Based on the proven ELEXSYS architecture, this instrument operates at 1 GHz and provides the seamless integration of imaging techniques into EPR spectroscopy.
Gradient and Magnet System
EPR imaging uses continuous microwave irradiation and stepped field gradients in 3 dimensions. The newly developed gradient coils are based on a planar multilayer design with internal water cooling.
Three bipolar gradient power supplies provide up to 40 G/cm. Up to 3 spatial and one spectral dimension to be measured (4D-SSI).
For safety reasons the coil resistances are continuously monitored, and the power supply is automatically switched off in case of overheating.
The gradient coils are mounted on the pole faces of the new, dedicated L-band magnet, which features a small foot print and light weight (350 kg) - a considerable advantage with regard to laboratory siting requirements. The system is controled by our dedicated imaging software.
Small Animal Probes and handling devices

- imaging probe

- animal bed
The resonator has an access diameter of 23 mm, assuring a high filling factor (sensitivity) for "small" animals. For easy access, the microwave resonator is located asymmetrically in the probe body. The probe can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.
