CW Performance

Bruker BioSpin is dedicated to consistently delivering the world's top spectrometer performance.  Through constant hardware development, the ELEXSYS and EMX CW-EPR spectrometers offer the highest sensitivity and highest resolution available.

Amplitude Resolution

The high resolution signal channel offers both fast and efficient data collection. With an amplitude resolution that is sweep time independent,  CW-EPR spectra can be collected at the shortest sweep time that the signal to noise allows.  Additionally, the high digital resolution allows the detection of small EPR signals in the presence of large EPR signals with only one receiver gain setting.

The X-band CW-EPR spectrum of γ-irradiated quartz illustrates the convenience of a single gain setting for maximizing the amount of information collected in a single EPR field scan.  A single scan of γ-irradiated quartz records both the E′ center as well as the very low intensity coupling from trapped hydrogen atoms.  Digital expansion of intensity axis of the left spectrum by a factor of 500 reveals these low intensity peaks in the spectrum on the right.

A 500 fold digital expansion of the intensity axis (shown in the spectrum on the right) reveals the low intensity peaks due to the coupling to trapped hydrogen atoms in the quartz (indicated by the arrows in the spectrum on the left).
